Password Best Practices E-mail
Your password is your first line of defense to protecting your information.  For this reason you should make sure it is secure.  Best practices say the password should be at least 8 characters long and contain varying characters.  It should contain at least one character from three of these categories:
  • Uppercase
  • Lowercase
  • Numbers
  • Special Characters (i.e. ! @ # $ %)

The password should not be anything easily guessed, like your child’s birthday but should be easy for you to remember so you don’t have to write it down.  Writing a password down next to your computer is similar to not having a password at all.  Changing your password on a regular basis is also recommended to decrease the chance of someone figuring it out.
